    Killing a Tech blog.

Well, I've decided its about time I made thunderror.com blog reach a wider audience, or rather write stuff which everyone can relate to. So that thunderror.com is no longer just a tech blog.
    1. Everyone you know already has a tech blog. Many of my friends do. So you know Tech is a real popular topic with the bloggers. That's because with technology, you always have something to write about. Something keeps changing all the time. There is always something cool around the corner.
    2. Its not a niche segment, which means that if you want you're not catering to a specific group, unless you're a big tech blog like Engadget or Lifehacker. Who gets to hear the news when it breaks first, anyway? You'd be better off blogging about exotic insects or different types of tea.
    3. Search results. You won't get regular visitors unless they come in from search results. I realized that on my blog, desktop customization was really popular with loads of people hitting it via Google. Now, its difficult to find such topics when everyone you know has a technology blog.
    4. If you know something about the internet, you decide that you're good enough to write a technology blog.  A blog is usually a statement of opinion and everyone's free to have their opinion on the latest technology. But, really do you care for that?

I will still continue to post tech stuff on this blog. But then, I want to make sure it just isn't limited to Tech. I should have done this long time ago. When I started blogging, I never focused on Technology alone. Somewhere down the line, Narain recommended that I blog at my domain. Thunderror.com is now not just about technology. Its about everything under the sun that I chose to blog about. And you can always subscribe to all those tech posts that I like, on my Google Reader page...Besides since twitter's become so all encompassing these days, I really wonder if I need a tech blog. If I don't have time to write long posts, I guess even you don't have time to read them. 140 characters is all I have. So follow me on twitter.

Now all that doesn't really happen. I will continue to write whatever I'd love to write about on Posted bits! and write an occassional boring tech post every now and then at thunderror.com. Just to keep it alive. So all that I wrote above was just so that I could make up a sensible post. It wasn't too sensible though...

If you have readers it matters what you do with your blog. Otherwise, you're pretty much left with the liberty to do whatever you want!!
